Clifford Park Activity Centre is a scout camp, school camp and accommodation venue that is well known for their horse riding and camp related activities. The venue hosts a wide range of groups including schools, scout groups, universities, special needs, families and community groups. During the consultation phase Island Energy’s CEC accredited designer visited the camp multiple times to assess the suitability and viability of installing solar, working closely with the project manager Kevin Eddy and Barry Kennedy through phone, email and regular site meetings to understand the specific needs of the camp. The camp has a high consumption of energy spending more than $49,240.00 per year on electricity. The total system cost $44,109.55, but after government rebates that Island Energy helped to secure including -$11,665.00 federal rebate as well as the ACA member discount of -$1000.00, the Solar Victoria Small Business Rebate of -$3,500.00 and the Solar Victoria Interest Free Loan of -$5,000.00 the final upfront cost was just $26,700.00 which will pay for itself within 2.5 years.
